The Slow Food movement has its own rock star and he's coming to Georgia!  Yes, Carlo Petrini will be here for the Georgia Organics annual conference in Athens and for a fundraising dinner to support Slow Food Atlanta.  The conference is already sold out!  Good news for Georgia Organics and the local movement.

You can still get a reservation to The Family Dinner with Carlo Petrini if have $150 to spare.  The event will be at Watershed and will feature 7 local chefs including fan favorite from Top Chef...Kevin!! 

The other day I was asked to explain what Slow Food meant...my quick answer was, "Well it's not Fast Food."  But it got me to thinking...I am so interested in this topic and do I really know what it means.  So here is the definition from the Slow Food International website: 

Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.
