Neighborhood Nexus is Atlanta's first Community Information System dedicated to providing good data and sound research for neighborhood and community groups. Data can be a powerful driver of positive change. Armed with information, people, organizations and businesses can make better-informed decisions as to the best use of their resources and develop a deeper understanding of the region. Neighborhood Nexus will help fill that role.
There are actually two main pieces to Neighborhood Nexus. The first piece is a Website where the community can go and get up-to-date, neighborhood-level information. The Website will also have a state-of-the-art mapping and visualization tool that will greatly enhance one's understanding of his or her community. This piece is still under development, so it's not a full capacity yet, but check it out at www.neighborhoodnexus.org.
The second piece involves people power - data and research professionals who can not only provide the data, but help you understand your community through custom research and data analysis. This piece is not developed yet, but the Atlanta Regional Commission, Emory University (Office of University-Community Partnerships) Georgia State University (Fiscal Research Center), and The Civic League are in the beginning stages to create this capacity.
As we develop both pieces, we will update you along the way. So, stay tuned.
